New Years with DressLily

My absolute favorite trend for the New Year is puffed sleeves. I remember watching Anne of Green Gables as a little girl and loving the “puffed sleeve” trends the young ladies wore. It’s not a shoulder pad look, it’s literally a gathered, puffed sleeve that is as dramatic as your true-self can handle. Right now, I’m obsessed with the black lace, puffed sleeve top, pictured above, from DressLily.

The puff sleeve blouse has a few rules. (1) Remember balance. With all that volume on top, keep your bottom sleek with a pair of skinny denim or even faux leather leggings. (2) Keep the print simple. So the sleeves can do all the talking. A bold print would draw attention away from those show stopping sleeves! (3) Try it on. Puff sleeve blouses tend to be made of a natural fiber which is great for keeping your puff, but not always great for tight fit. Find a blouse that you can make a full circle with your arm in. That way you can dance the night away!

Let’s not forget about the guys! DressLily has men’s outerwear at unbelievable prices. I love the pea coat, above, layered with a button-down and a sweater. I like ripped jeans, but feel free to wear whatever denim floats your boat. A pair of Italian boots would make this look perfection, but depending on where you live, waterproof winter boots are cool too.

These pants are amazing. I love the print, the fit, the drawstring. DressLily has tons of cute pants like these quasi-joggers, jeans, active leggings, bell bottom pants, etc. With a style like the plaid pair above, I love that the model wore gray pumps and a simple white top. The pants are enough pattern, so keeping everything else muted gives the look balance.

I have rules about earrings. As I get older, my ears tend to be less tolerant of earrings all together, so making sure I’m wearing LIGHT ones, is everything. These drop-pearl earrings from DressLily are perfectly delicate, but still eye popping as a statement earring. I could wear these day, night, fancy, casual. Love them.
