4 Pieces You Need This Fall
It’s official. I’m old enough to say, “I wore that in the 90’s”! Just like thirty years ago (gulp), mom jeans are totally trending. With a high-waist, acid wash and roomy cropped leg, these jeans are the new must-haves for Fall. Want to try this trend? It’s ideal for anyone pear shaped. They’re narrow at the waist and roomy in the hips and thighs.
Pair your new mom jeans with sneakers or booties for day and dress them up for night in heels. With a more loose fit on the bottom, balance your top with something more fitted or cropped to define your waist. To avoid looking frumpy, make sure the hem of your mom jean is above the ankle and they’re not too distressed. The mom jeans pictured above are from Forever21.
Next piece you need for Fall, is a plaid blazer. Hounds-tooth, tartan, gingham, Burberry, doesn’t matter the print you prefer. An over-sized, men’s-style blazer, layered or belted. The possibilities are endless. Wear with jeans? Yes. Dress pants? Yes. Pleather leggings? Highly recommended. Works for day and night. The plaid blazer pictured above is from Forever21.
You say, white after Labor Day? I say yes, fashion rules are meant to be broken. Plus, white boots are so hot this year that they are okay to wear year round. I promise. The only thing they’re thinking when you walk by in your white boots is, I need a pair of white boots. The style of boot is whatever you prefer. High heel, kitten heel, block heel, flat. They all work. Round toe, peep toe, pointy toe. Whatever feels and looks best for your feet. Leather, patent, suede, just make sure it’s white.
I’ve been wearing a pair similar to the ones pictured above (from Forever21) for years. I pair them with dresses, jeans, work pants, shorts. They’re the most versatile shoe I own. I recommend trying them on before you buy. I like to wear socks with my boots, so I buy them a half-size big. Also, consider a heel height that is comfortable to wear all day. I like a block heel for sturdy support and personally prefer a heel less than 3”.
Lastly, animal print anything is in for Fall (and I’m guessing winter too). Leopard, zebra, python, it’s all hot. Of course, to avoid looking obnoxious only wear animal print on one piece of your outfit. Make your all-black look pop, with python booties or carry a leopard print clutch to elevate your evening look. Animal print is okay for daytime too. Keep it subtle for the office, or over-the-top at your ladies lunch. The tunic above is available at Forever21.
