Guest Post: A Complete Guide to Knitwear

Winter has arrived. Despite the fact that temperatures are still high in the Bay Area. Mother Nature, on the other hand, will soon provide us with fresh, crisp air and, hopefully, rain. And I can't wait for the weather to go down so I can put on all of my sweaters, coats, and boots – I greatly prefer the cold to the hot.

Layers, sweaters, coats, and blazers are essential for cooler weather as they are usually knitted from stock yarn. It implies you can mix and match color, textures, and concepts in an unlimited number of ways.

Sweaters are incredibly adaptable in terms of how they can be styled and worn. They're simple items that may be layered or worn alone. There are countless dimensions, textures, and patterns to choose from. If you're looking for a new sweater this season, I recommend going for one with some drama in terms of colour, volume, or pattern.

Here are a few styling tips.

  1. Tuck

Tucking a sweater in the front creates an hourglass form with a clearly defined waistline, which is one of the clean-cut looks. A basic sweater might be tucked into a skirt, jeans, or shorts here.

2. Make it more appealing.

A sweater dress is a comfortable and fashionable solution to keep you warm. For added dimension, I would wear a pair of stockings or leggings. There are no wrong answers when it comes to wearing a sweater with heels, sneakers, or boots. Add a belt, a long necklace, or a scarf to spice things up.

3. Texturing and depth

Adding depth and texture to your appearance is simple to do, but with the variety of options available, it's also simple to go wrong we’ve always liked wearing a simple leather jacket with our knitwear to lend depth, texture, and cool factor to the appearance. Choosing the perfect jacket, bag, or other accessories to go with your knitwear may make all the difference between a haphazardly put-together look and a well-thought-out ensemble.

4. Patterns
Although patterned knitwear is not for everyone, we believe it is an excellent way to add interest to your outfit. Whatever pattern you want (Fair Isle, Polkadot, zig-zag, or something else), know that there is a method to make it work. Start modestly if you don't normally go toward bright or strong colours and patterns. A neutral colour with a polka dot design, or something more subtle, could be a nice starting.

In your knitwear, don't skimp on quality and materials.

Finally, we cannot emphasize enough the importance of selecting and purchasing knitwear that is manufactured from natural materials and is of high quality (whether from us or otherwise). All of our jumpers are manufactured entirely of natural materials such as merino wool, cashmere, and cotton, and this shows in knitwear. Natural materials not only fit and breathe better, making them more comfortable to wear, but they also last longer when properly cared for.

Investing in high-quality knitwear will ensure that you are the center of attention in the shared kitchen for all the right reasons!

How to Look After Your Knitwear

Taking care of your knitwear ensures that it lasts as long as possible while also looking as good as the day you bought it. Don't let the fact that caring for knitwear is simple deter you from purchasing high-quality clothing.

1.  Dispose of pills properly.

Is there anything more vexing than pilling on one's favourite sweater? After a period, a perfectly good and lovely wool cardigan can start to resemble an untidy dog. Unfortunately, all sweaters pill. It's caused by rubbing during wear and is most noticeable around the elbows, under armpits, and on the sleeves, but it can happen anywhere on the sweater. Hold the sweater flat with one hand and slice the pills off with a razor (one at a time) to easily remove them. A pill remover can also be purchased. Do not pull on them; otherwise, the pilling will worsen.

2. Remove dandruff, hair, and lint on a regular basis.

Sweater fabric can occasionally behave as a magnet, attracting and clinging to dust, lint, dandruff, or strands of hair, thanks to the soft wool, knit, or cashmere that we all know and love. A child's soft hairbrush or a soft toothbrush will help you swiftly brush off anything on the sweater (looking at you, dog hair!) for an easy fix, but don't brush too roughly on the sweater or the fabric will loosen and cause pills. Brush through after each wear, but a quick TLC for all your sweaters once a month will suffice to keep lint, dandruff, dust, and hair from piling up.

3. Understand how to clean (and when)

Sweater washing doesn't have to be a chore. Most sweaters should be hand cleaned to ensure that the fabric remains intact and that they last longer. Fill a bucket or sink halfway with lukewarm water, add a few squirts of light laundry detergent, submerge the sweater, and soak for 30 minutes. After that, give it a good rinsing with cold water. To dry, gently squeeze the water out of the sweater (do not wring it out) and roll it up in a towel (like a sleeping bag or sushi roll) to absorb any excess moisture. Finally, lay it out flat to dry on a drying rack or a clean towel.

4. Sweaters should be stored correctly.

Don’t put up sweaters on hangers   Sweaters stretch out and generally peaks in the shoulders when they are hung. Sweaters should be folded or rolled and stored in drawers or on shelves to protect their shape and quality. Fold them properly by placing them front-down on a level surface and folding each arm (diagonally across the back of the sweater from the sleeve seam). Then fold it in half horizontally or roll it up from the bottom hem to the collar. To avoid creases, fold the sweater over the hanger and place it on top of a sheet of tissue paper.
