It's Layering Season!
Yaaayyyy… it’s layering season! Mornings and evenings are freezing, but days are sunny and moderate. That means, you gotta layer up. Dropping Mike off at school, I’m scraping frost off my windshield. That means I need a warm layering piece, on top of my base. Today, it’s my fuzzy cream Free People Movement Hit The Slopes Fleece Jacket. True to size and kinda expensive ($148), I’ve already gotten my money out of it.
They key to a great layering piece is versatility, warmth and fit. The cream color and snap closure makes this piece incredibly versatile. I specifically purchased my cream Puma Walking Boots to pair with the fleece jacket, which offers so many options. Green Free People base, check. Canadian Cowboy base, check. Cargos and tee base, check. It literally works with almost every casual look.
Want something with a little longer coverage? Take a peek at LLBean. They have an incredible selection of layering pieces. From cropped cream fleeces, like mine, to lightweight packable puffers that go to your calves. Be sure to consider what color compliments your skin tone and wardrobe. Although a yellow jacket gives you a great pop of color, be sure that it doesn’t wash you out. Also, consider the color of your footwear. The first thing people see is your top layer. If your shoes are totally clashing with that layer, it can really stand out. They don’t have to match perfectly, but something complimentary will flatter your look so much better.
Find your perfect layering piece and rock it all season. My Free People Fleece is from Dicks. The green tunic is In My Nature. The leggings are Free People Movement and the Puma Walking Boots are from DSW.
