Nashville Chic

Hey Y’all! Just got back from a quick weekend trip to Nashville, Tennessee and I must share all my incredible adventures… Plus a little fashion life lesson. I know, I know, Nashville is so trendy. Everyone is doing it. That’s why we HAD to check it out. See what all the hype is about. Well, let me tell you, Nashville did not disappoint.

We arrived about 1pm on a Friday afternoon. Oh, and if you’re on the east coast, just a heads up that Nashville is one hour behind. You may be saying, “duh”, but I didn’t realize until we landed. We hop off the plane, jump into a taxi and were at the Omni Hotel within minutes. Dropped our bags in our suite and hit the town.

Of course, first stop was shopping. Had to get all the swag, because believe it or not, most people do dress “country” when hitting Broadway. Got Mike some new cowboy boots, Joe a hat and me a fringy sweater and gloves because it was freaking freezing!

I am a total planner, so I made sure to check the weather before we left. It was saying it would be in the low 50’s and to a Mainer in January, that’s balmy. NOPE. It was freezing. And when I say freezing, by the time we hit the roof top bar of Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk Bar (which is 5 stories, if you count the mezzanine), it was snowing.

Saturday morning, we hit the Country Music Hall of Fame. I’m really a hip hop and rock kinda girl, but have gotten into more contemporary country these past couple years. Can’t have a boat and not listen to country music. Anyway, I was blown away to learn all the history of where country music originated from, but even more, how long it’s actually been around. My absolute favorite part were all the sparkly, embroidered, fringy costumes worn over the years. Incredible.

A few bars in between, a professional hockey game and just like that, our trip was over. As promised, I’ll give you some fashion tips in regards to Nashville. First off, I underestimated how many people were going to be dressed up like country music stars. It’s wildly acceptable, and I encourage you to embrace it. Be sure to check the weather and pack layers (unlike me). Real cowboy/cowgirl boots are horribly stiff and uncomfortable until you break them in, so consider getting a pair before you leave. My knee-high white cowgirl boots are from Amazon and were comfortable enough to wear straight for two days and hours on my feet.

Nashville, you rock! So much glitz, so much live music, so clean, safe and down right fun. We’ll definitely be back.
