Finding Your Perfect Faux Leather Pants

Faux leather pants are all the rage right now. Whether they’re high waisted and flared (like the pair I’m wearing), or a mid-rise legging, even the shyest fashionistas are sporting them. You may not realize, but this trend has been around for a while and looks like it has no signs of stopping.

My first pair of faux leather pants were leggings from Express, in Times Square, ten years ago. That’s right. I’ve been wearing this trend for that long. I’ve now expanded my faux leather pant collection to at least five pair in various colors and styles. So I’m kind of a connoisseur at this point. Let’s break down what faux leather pants work best for your body and personality.

Let’s flash all the way back to Fall of 2022. I know. Feels like yesterday, right? The cream, straight leg, cropped faux leather pants are Madden NYC from Walmart. I had them in cream and cognac and I wore them daily. They were high waisted enough to wear with crop tops, comfortable enough to wear all day, with stretch and fleece lining. I’d absolutely recommend this style of faux leather pants to almost any body shape and style.

But, if you’re a girl who likes it skinny (which YES, you can still wear skinny style pants!!!), then I can’t recommend enough getting yourself a great fitting pair of faux leather leggings. My First pair were from Express and I wore them so much, I wore the shiny pleather coating right off of them. They had a mid-rise, were extremely stretchy and were a perfect amount of, “look at me”! I’ve since upgraded my faux leather leggings to designer and they’ve literally lasted me over 5 years without any signs of wear and tear. I tend to like to pair my leather leggings with softer pieces to balance out the biker vibe. A cami with a cashmere cardigan is my go-to with my faux leather leggings.

Lastly, the flares. This whole look is from Windsor. The cropped plaid shirt pairs perfectly with the high waisted, black flared, faux leather pants. WARNING: This style ins’t for everyone. I swear Windsor designed these pants for long legged women, because that’s exactly who should be wearing them. They are fitted through the waist, hips and thighs and then flare out (quite a bit) at the knees. If you don’t have a decently long leg to allow all that shape, a flare will just make your legs appear even shorter. My black combat boots elongate the pant and give it a perfect lift at the heel.

You may think you can’t wear faux leather pants, but you absolutely can. They’re for every shape, style, age, gender, you name it. Find the style that works best on your body type and rock out.
