Easter Outfit Reimagined (Part 1)

As a little girl, I have vivid memories of loving Easter. Of course the Easter Egg Hunt, the colorful baskets, the family dinners… But what I always looked forward to most was the Easter outfit. Every year, my mom took my older sister and I shopping for a full head-to-toe Easter look. We’re talking a white straw hat, white gloves, a pretty pastel dress, white socks with a lace ruffle and black mary janes. Classic.

As I got a little older, my mom would allow us to step outside the box a little and put our own signature style on the classic Easter look. I was nine. My hair was super short (think mushroom cut), so instead of a straw hat, my mom let me select a puffy pink headband (which ironically has come back as a hair accessory), a pink floral bubble dress and the classic lace ruffle socks with the graduated (once you were big enough, the strap was no longer required) black patent flats. The dress was sleeveless and had a cute cropped floral shrug, that matched the bubble skirt part of the dress. It was my favorite.

A few years ago, I recreated the classic look with black mary janes, ruffle socks, pink babydoll dress and a straw hat, but this year, I’m reimagining my favorite bubble dress look. To keep myself from looking nine, I paired this precious bubble dress from ASOS with a cropped black moto jacket by BARIII, the classic ruffle socks and black combat boots from Target. A little hi-low action for this Easter.

Easter is a celebration. A time to be with the ones you love and celebrate all the things that are important to you. For me, Easter brings Spring, pastel colors, bunny cake, family, traditions. Honor those traditions by getting dressed up and consider reimagining your favorite childhood look. To avoid looking too childish, try layering your look with a piece that elevates it. Pair something soft with something tough. Create balance with fitted and flowy pieces. Believe it or not, Easter will be here in almost two weeks. Time to start shopping!
