2023 Summer Trends

I never thought I’d say this, but get your cargos and corsets ready… Summer 2023 is getting weird. Yup, you heard right. Fashion is doing that thing again where it really doesn’t make any sense. I mean, pairing cargo parachute pants with a satin bustier is actually a thing, and I’m secretly loving it. If that wasn’t enough, VOGUE is predicting the return of grunge. Over sized denim, paired with over sized flannel. I mean, if that doesn’t scream SUMMER, I don’t know what does. Clearly, I’m kidding. About the summer part, not the grunge part. That’s really happening.

All joking aside, let’s talk about REAL, WEARABLE, TRENDS. Like cut outs. Asymmetrical lines. Bright colors. Metal details. Crisp cotton. If you’re rocking any of these more wearable trends, then BRAVO! If you’re not, then BRAVO! What is in style for summer 2023 is whatever looks great on your body. Honestly, that’s it. You could spend your entire paycheck on what VOGUE says is in style, but if those trends don’t flatter your figure, then it’s all for nothing.

What I’ll be living in this summer are stretchy, breathable and lightweight materials. I just got a pair of cream, high waisted denim cutoff shorts from Madewell. They’re stretchy, sit high on my waist, so they hide my gut and pair perfectly with a cropped tee and sneakers. Summer uniform, Check! I’m also living in ribbed bike short and sport bra sets from SHEIN. I got one in three different colors and got some lightweight cotton button-down shirts to wear over them. I can wear it with sneakers during the day, or pair it with some sexy sandals and my chain belt for a fun night out.

Some essentials that if you don’t own, you should, are: Sneakers (I have a pair from Walmart that are faux leather and white and match everything. The best part is that they are so affordable, if they get trashed at a concert, they’re very easily replaceable), a crossbody bag (going hands-free is essential when you’re running place to place), a sturdy pair of shorts in a neutral color that fit your shape well (I’m telling you, I LOVE my Madewell denim cream shorts), a dress (that flatters your body type and can be dressed up or down), and lastly, girl, get a hat (skin cancer is real and even if you’re wearing SPF on your face, your hair burns too).
