When It's Almost Fall, But Feels Like Summer
If you follow my blog, you know that I turn my closet over at least four times a year. A flip for every season. And because every year is different, I still haven’t mastered the timing on it. We’ve been getting summer weather into late September, winter weather into May and I swear, Maine just skipped over spring this year. Because of the unpredictability of the changing of seasons, here’s a blog post on some essentials that you should keep in your wardrobe all year round.
Right now, it feels like fall outside. It’s breezy, in the 60’s and it’s only August! I’m not going to get ahead of myself, because I saw that it’s going to be in the 80’s this weekend. I’m not putting my summer pieces away just yet, but I can definitely feel it coming. A great staple to always have that works any season is denim. Specifically, these H&M Slim Straight Jeans. They are lightweight for warmer days, but also sturdy enough to wear through the winter. The high waist hides the tummy, but a little stretch gives you comfort. I have them in both a medium wash denim and cream, which are both neutrals.
Another great way to combat the changing weather is to always keep a layering piece on you. I love to keep my tones neutral, which works for any season. This Omara Denim Jacket from VICI is slightly cropped and very lightweight. It works with denim, athleisure and perfect over a dress. Whether it’s a classic blue denim or a tan like mine, a denim jacket is timeless and has always been in style, no matter what season it is.
Lastly, a pair of faux leather loafers works for any season. They’re lightweight and comfortable, and the cream tone allows these shoes to easily transition from summer to fall. These pointed toe cream faux leather loafers from Target were just $20, and I’ve already gotten my money out of them. I pair them with dresses, denim, even linen blend pants.
No matter what season it is… Or feels like, keep your tones neutral, focus on denim and always have a layering piece for when your summer days go to fall feeling nights.
