The Coveted Onesie

Have you been living under a rock? If not, you have probably seen, heard about, already own the coveted onesie, by FREE PEOPLE MOVEMENT. With it’s harem style pants and spaghetti straps, this jumpsuit (onsies are for babies) is all the rage right now. So, what’s all the hoop-la about? I did my research, and here’s what I found.

At a whopping $70, FREE PEOPLE MOVEMENT has this coveted jumpsuit in 13 colors and is officially sold out in almost all of them online. Good news is that FREE PEOPLE stores are popping up all over the place and they’re usually in stock, in store. I also saw that DICKS is selling FREE PEOPLE MOVEMENT items, so you might have some luck there. Yes, the crotch is low. Like I said, it’s sort of a harem style pant, the waist is baggy and the unadjustable spaghetti straps make the jumpsuit require at minimum, a bralette. Definitely not a figure flattering piece, but definitely trending.

Don’t want to jump through all the hoops of searching far and wide for a jumpsuit that may or may not go out of style next week? AMAZON has a dupe for under $35. I read all the reviews and people are saying it’s ALMOST exactly the same as the FPM one. The only differences is that the crotch doesn’t hang as low. Which, depending on the length of your torso could be a good or bad thing. If you have a long torso, the AMAZON dupe reviews said it won’t work. But, one thing that reviewers loved about the AMAZON dupe is that it has a little zippered pocket on the back that can hold keys, credit card, etc.

Still not convinced this jumpsuit is right for you? Take my lead and go with a double dupe. That’s right. For $14, you can get this jumpsuit from SHEIN. It definitely has some small differences. The SHEIN material is a little more stretchy, it’s got a bit of a more slim fit and the crotch isn’t as low as the FPM, but lower than the AMAZON. Also, the inseam length is definitely more cropped. Of course my legs are longer than most people’s, but this SHEIN jumpsuit hits right in the middle of my calf, which I don’t love, so I pull them up a little to be more flattering on my legs. Also, I could totally wear this SHEIN jumpsuit without a shirt underneath. The straps are just the right length, to easily hide a bra.

Overall, I’m thrilled with my decision to start super low on this item. I really like it, but with it being so unflattering, it’s strictly a daytime look. It’s good for running around with the kids or doing yard work, but I won’t be making any appearances where I need to look attractive in it. With that said, I will be wearing it a ton this spring, when comfort comes first.
